Does this file my SECR report for me?

Accepted Answer

No. The generator produces an editable Word draft of the SECR narrative section, built from the figures you enter. It is a starting point for your own technical review and director sign-off — not a compliance check and not a filing. You still need a qualified specialist to validate the numbers and a director to approve it before it goes into your Director's Report at Companies House.

What figures do I need to hand?

Your company name and financial-year dates, total UK energy use in kWh (electricity, gas, transport), your Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in tCO₂e, at least one intensity ratio, and a short narrative on the energy-efficiency action you took. Market-based Scope 2, Scope 3 and a prior-year figure are optional. If you don't have the emissions yet, work them out first with the carbon calculator.

What does the Word draft contain?

Accepted Answer

A statement of compliance, reporting period, methodology, energy-use and emissions tables, your intensity ratio, an energy-efficiency narrative, year-on-year context, an external-assurance section and a directors' approval block. Anything the tool can't populate is flagged with an [INSERT …] marker for you to complete.

Is my data stored?

We capture the email you provide so we can send you the draft and offer a specialist review — that's the only personal data kept. The figures you enter are used to build the document and are not published anywhere.

Why have it reviewed by a specialist?

Accepted Answer

SECR figures have to be right: wrong conversion factors, the wrong Scope 2 basis or a missed intensity ratio can make a disclosure non-compliant.
